Amar Lal and Asara Devi Chaudhary Lifetime Achievement Award in Anatomy

Formerly known as the “Special Contribution and Lifetime Achievement Award in Anatomy,” this prestigious honor has been renamed as the “Amar Lal and Asara Devi Chaudhary Lifetime Achievement Award in Anatomy” in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Society of Nepalese Anatomists (SONA) and Dr. Ganpat Choudhary.

The Organizing Committee of iSONACON 2026 is honored to announce this distinguished award, which recognizes an eminent Nepalese anatomist for exceptional and lifelong contributions to the advancement of anatomical sciences in Nepal.

The award celebrates excellence in teaching, mentorship, research, and academic leadership. It acknowledges individuals who have significantly strengthened anatomical education and research through curriculum development, innovative pedagogical practices, scholarly contributions, institutional leadership, and capacity building.

This award has been instituted by Assistant Professor Ganpat Choudhary, the first graduate in Anatomy from BPKIHS, Nepal, in loving memory of his late parents, Mr. Amarlal Chaudhary and Mrs. Asara Devi Chaudhary.

This honor is conferred upon individuals whose sustained contributions, professional integrity, and dedication have created a lasting impact on medical education and continue to inspire future generations of anatomists in Nepal.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Nepalese anatomist with a distinguished academic and professional career.
  • Should have a minimum of 20–25 years of contribution in the field of anatomy (teaching, research, and/or academic service).
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development.
  • Proven record of research contributions, including publications, projects, or academic innovations.
  • Evidence of leadership roles in academic institutions, professional organizations, or institutional governance.
  • Contributions toward capacity building, ethical research practices, and advancement of anatomical sciences in Nepal.
  • The award may be conferred posthumously, if deemed appropriate.

Nomination Process

  • Nominations may be submitted by:
    • Heads of Departments/Institutions
    • Senior faculty members/peers
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.
  • Each nomination must include:
    • Detailed curriculum vitae (CV) of the nominee
    • Statement of contribution (500–800 words) highlighting lifetime achievements
    • At least two letters of recommendation from eminent academicians
    • Supporting documents (publications, awards, evidence of contributions, etc.)
  • Nominations must be submitted at least one month prior to the conference via email to: secretary@anatomynepal.org.np

Selection Guidelines

  • A Selection Committee appointed by the Organizing Committee/SONA will review all nominations.
  • The selection will be based on:
    • Lifetime achievements and overall impact in anatomical sciences
    • Contribution to education, research, and academic leadership
    • Innovation and capacity-building efforts
    • National and/or international recognition
    • Professional integrity and ethical standards
  • The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final and binding.

The award will be presented during the iSONACON Conference Ceremony.
